Since the founding of Danica Crewing Specialists in Hamburg in 2013, clients have been intrigued by our name.
The name Danica is Latin for Danish. We chose it because our founder, owner and CEO, Henrik Jensen, is Danish.
Danica reflects the high-quality Scandinavian shipping traditions, which we in Danica combine with the strong ship-owning traditions of Germany.
Danica Crewing Specialists is not a crew manager but a crew partner to our clients. Our clients are ship-owning companies with in-house technical management and operations. We are small enough to care and big enough to deliver. We are not involved in any technical management and instead focus on providing our clients with the best crew to meet their needs.
Henrik Jensen has lived in Hamburg for 25 years and worked for large ship managers before he established Danica. He has deep knowledge of the modus operandi of German shipping companies, and of German shipping legalisation.
Henrik Jensen explained: “When I started Danica, our client base was mainly German ship owners who understood that a key factor for their successful vessel operations is to have highly competent seafarers onboard. Danica is able to deliver these seafarers through our strict screening and selection process.”
“I’m so pleased that the German clients who joined our voyage back in 2013 are still with us,” he added. “It confirms that Danica’s thinking and concepts are well-suited to German ship owners’ expectations”
Danica continues to be committed to serving German shipping companies. In 2024, Danica moved its headquarters to a new and larger office in the very centre of Hamburg.
Over the past 12 years, Danica has expanded with a network of owned offices in key seafaring hubs across the world, including the Philippines, India, Ukraine and Georgia. We also have regional offices in Cyprus and Greece. Our offices in Cyprus and Germany take the lead in covering recruitment from the EU. Please get in touch to find out more.
