“I founded Danica Crewing Specialists more a decade ago as my experience working in senior roles within ship owning had shown me that there was a need for a high-quality crewing service provider to assist demanding shipowners to connect with seafarers of the right calibre needed to operate their vessels.

That vision turned out to be right and today Danica serves a portfolio of first-class ship owners with our hands-on, flexible and cost-efficient crew management solutions as well as deploying the best seafarers.

Danica has reached excellence in crew management by combining a traditional ship owner approach with modern cutting-edge digital solutions.

Our management team members all come from a background in ship owning. As a result, we understand the importance of having the right people onboard and the serious consequences an owner might encounter by not having the right people onboard.

While others call themselves ‘third party’ managers, our aim is to become the first-party manager of our clients through understanding of their requirements, close cooperation and being fully transparent in all process. Our flat organizational structure means that all our clients have direct access to senior management.

We are present with our owned offices in all the major seafaring hubs in the world – including the Philippines, Eastern Europe and India. In order to place the right candidates, we very carefully vet all seafarers through a strict screening procedure, developed thanks to our wealth of experience in HR maritime management. Our procedures also include background checks, interviews with our recruitment captains and chief engineers, as well as professional knowledge and psychometric tests. We also carefully check documentation to ensure it is real and correct.

It is well-known that there is a shortage of competent seafarers. In Danica we are able to overcome this shortage by using our excellent standing in the seafarer communities combined with new digital solutions. This year we launched a new recruitment platform which streamlines the recruitment process and makes it easier for seafarers to apply. This digitalisation in Danica continues to evolve, and our aim is to beat crewing challenges through a combination of our traditional crew management approach with advanced technology solutions.
